When I started creating 3D-Models with Cinema4D, Maya etc. I never wanted to earn any money with it. I just did it for me and for the 200 subscribers on my YouTube Channel. But one day someone wrote in the comments “Hey you have such beautiful 3D-Objects, why are you not selling them?”. So I started to take researches and try different things out to sell my 3D-Models. First I wanted to create a website where I sell them… but then I discovered some better options

Turbosquid

TurboSquid is a Website, where Artists can upload and sell 3D-Models. TurboSquid is the biggest platform in the market. I’m now working with it for over 3 years and it’s amazing.

  • It’s free to sell your products
  • Easy to use
  • Trusted Seller
  • Earn up to 80% royalties
  • You can sell 3D Models, Texture Maps, Materials & Shaders, Motion Capture, Plugins & CG Scripts, Tutorials, Shapes & Vector Graphics, Game Levels and General Media

Turbosquid RoyaltiesThis are the royalties paid by Turbosquid. If you sell more you will earn more. And if you sell your models exclusive on Turbosquid, you also earn more.

Turbosquid Dashboard

This is my Turbosquid Dashboard and as you can see I earn about 50.- every month.

CGTrader

CGTrader is the best alternative to Turbosquid. The difference is, that CGTrader is more “community-based”. Means that seller and buyer can contact each other.
They also offer something called “Freelance 3D Jobs”. There you can create specific models for a customer and get paid for it.

  • It’s free to sell your products
  • Easy to use
  • Trusted Seller
  • Earn up to 80% royalties
  • Freelance jobs

Create your own Website

If you want to keep all the income from your models, then the best way to do this is to create your own website for example with Shopify. But I would not recommend this, because it’s really hard against all these big players.

  • Get 100% royalties
  • Costs of hosting the website
  • Much more effort in SEO
  • Buyers may not trust you
  • Sell whatever you want to

In the end, it’s your choice what you want to do. But I wish you good luck in selling your 3D-Models!
